GE Healthcare has broadened its Venue point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) product line with a new compact system, as well as new artificial intelligence (AI) applications for its existing Venue and Venue Go units.
Designed to fit in tight spaces, the latest system -- Venue Fit --- is the smallest in the Venue line and includes a touchscreen and scanning tools, according to the vendor.
In other POCUS introductions, GE has rolled out RealTime EF, an AI-based application that continuously calculates the heart's ejection fraction on its Venue and Venue Go systems. Another new tool, Lung Sweep, automatically provides a dynamic panoramic view of the entire lung. It activates at the start of each sweep when the probe is tapped on the body and deactivates at the end of each sweep, the company said.
GE has also added an Auto B-lines protocol, which highlights B-lines over the entire panoramic view and displays the frame with the most B-lines per rib space, according to the firm. Clinicians who are following up on patients with suspected kidney infection can use the final new tool -- Renal Diagram -- to select labels from a prepopulated list that correlates with the captured images, GE said.
