UltraSight announced that it has been selected by the Israel Space Agency to conduct a cardiac imaging/artificial intelligence (AI) study onboard the International Space Station during the upcoming Rakia mission.

The study will be conducted in collaboration with the Israeli Aerospace Medicine Institute (IAMI) and will investigate changes in the heart anatomy during long periods in space. Team leader Col. Eytan Stibbe will use a handheld ultrasound scanner that incorporates UltraSight's AI software to acquired cardiac ultrasound images of fellow astronauts, the company said.

The Rakia mission is supported by the Ramon Foundation in collaboration with IAMI.
