Clarius Mobile Health is reporting increased sales of its Clarius L7 HD3 wireless ultrasound scanner following the Florida Board of Medicine's approval of an emergency order that mandates the use of ultrasound during so-called "Brazilian butt lift" surgeries.

Using ultrasound with these procedures helps surgeons avoid injecting fat into the muscle, therefore reducing risk of fat embolisms, the company said.

The Board mandate is in response to the fact that, in the past five years, 19 women in South Florida have died from the procedure, which is considered to have one of the highest mortality rates of any cosmetic surgery, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Clarius Mobile Health said.

Clarius L7 HD3 is available with an advanced aesthetic tool that offers additional customization for exams and procedures in addition to buttock lifts such as facial aesthetics, breast augmentation, and hair follicle imaging, according to the firm.
