STS Biopolymers of Henrietta, NY, has expanded its line of Echo-Coat echogenic biopsy needles to include a product for the localization of suspicious breast masses. STS already sells Echo-Coat needles for aspiration applications.
Echo-Coat needles are coated with a material that traps air bubbles in microcavities on the surface of a thin, transparent film. When applied to a needle shaft, the coating reflects ultrasound waves, making it easier to visualize the needle under ultrasound guidance, according to the company.
