The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has expanded its coverage of image-guided breast biopsies. On Monday the U.S. agency said it would pay for image-guided biopsies of some palpable lesions that are difficult to biopsy using only touch.
In 1999 the agency began covering image guidance for nonpalpable lesions. CMS said the new coverage would be implemented later this year.
