Hologic of Bedford, MA, has received final Food and Drug Administration approval to sell its Lorad Selenia full-field digital mammography system in the U.S. Hologic now joins two other companies that are actively selling FFDM systems in the U.S., GE Medical Systems of Waukesha, WI, and Fischer Imaging of Denver.
Selenia shipments will begin this quarter, according to Jack Cumming, president and CEO of the company. The company also plans to offer an FFDM upgrade to some 3,000 analog Lorad M-IV mammography systems that are currently installed.
