GE Medical Systems experienced sales growth of 7% in the third quarter of 2002 (end-September 30), with the Waukesha, WI, GE unit reporting revenue of $2.1 billion. Orders for the period rose 11%, to $2.5 billion, GE said.
The division’s results for the quarter included the following highlights:
- Ultrasound orders grew 20% to $185 million, driven by sales of the Voluson 730 4D system and LogiqBook portable scanner.
- CT orders increased 12% to over $300 million, due to the new LightSpeed 16 multislice scanner.
- MRI orders grew 9% to $305 million, spearheaded by GE’s new Excite technology.
- X-ray orders rose 12%, to more than $305 million.
- Healthcare information technology orders rose 43%, to over $325 million.
