GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., plans to feature the next-generation platform of Senographe DS, its full-field digital mammography system.
The system uses flat-panel detector technology, and includes ergonomic features and a platform that can perform image fusion and handle multiple images from other modalities, as well as the use of contrast media. With a throughput capability of 80 to 90 patients per day, Senographe DS can also be used with an integrated biopsy device and perform biopsies directly in either vertical or lateral approach.
In October, GE signed an agreement with Ethicon Endo-Surgery of Cincinnati to offer an integrated ultrasound-guided breast biopsy package, which will include GE's Logiq Book XP compact ultrasound scanner and Ethicon's Mammotome EX breast biopsy system.
