When most people think of full-field digital mammography (FFDM), the first thing that comes to mind is flat-panel technology, used in integrated digital systems that can carry a high price tag. But there's also a more economical option for going digital: computed radiography (CR)-based mammography.
Flat-panel FFDM has been studied extensively, but how does CR-based mammography compare to the traditional gold standard of film-screen mammography? A group of Finnish researchers wanted to find out, and their work is the subject of this edition's Insider Exclusive.
