New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed a bill requiring that patients who have mammograms be notified if dense breast tissue is identified on their exams.
The legislation, sponsored by Sen. John Flanagan (R-2nd District), passed the New York State Senate and Assembly in June.
The new law will take effect in 180 days, on January 23, 2013.
