On Friday, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed SB17-142, the state's dense breast tissue reporting bill, making Colorado the 29th state to enact such a law.
State Sen. Angela Williams introduced the bill in the Colorado Legislature, and Rep. Jessie Danielson introduced it in the House.
The law encourages patients and healthcare providers to discuss screening options that are personalized to patients, Danielson said in a statement accompanying passage of the law. The law is one solution to increase the early detection of breast cancer, she said.
