FDA reinstates NC mammography facility's accreditation

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reinstated the accreditation of a North Carolina mammography facility.

Invision Diagnostics of Charlotte lost its accreditation in March after it underwent an additional review due to shortcomings discovered during a Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) inspection conducted by the state in November. The American College of Radiology (ACR) performed the review, confirmed that the facility's mammograms had serious image quality deficiencies, and revoked its accreditation.

However, Invision Diagnostics notified its providers and patients about the mammography quality problems and corrected the issue, according to the FDA. It has been issued a current MQSA certificate, its accreditation has been reinstated, and it is performing mammography, the agency said.
