The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on October 2 posted a warning regarding a Texas mammography center.
In January, the State of Texas Accreditation Body initiated a review of mammograms performed at Medical Assoc. of Brownsville, TX, due to deficiencies found during an inspection. The facility's accreditation was suspended in February, and Medical Assoc. was directed to inform patients and their providers about mammography quality problems.
Medical Assoc. did inform patients and providers but is currently not performing mammography, according to the FDA.
