Bayer and HealthyWomen have launched the Understand Your Density campaign to increase women's awareness about their breast density and their needs for supplemental screenings.
The national initiative aims to provide women age 40 and older who have dense breasts with the information needed to ask their healthcare providers for screenings beyond mammograms. Bayer also is launching a quiz to help women test their breast density knowledge and what that means for them.
Nearly half of all women age 40 and older who get mammograms are found to have dense breasts. Those with dense breasts are more likely to get false-negative results from mammograms.
