Dear Advanced Visualization Insider,

It's no secret that radiologists are facing an increasing number of images per study, thanks to technology advances in MR and CT. But with this challenge comes opportunity. Radiologists can now gain detailed evaluation of the vascular structures and soft tissues, a task made easier with the integration of 2D and 3D viewing capabilities.

At the 25th annual meeting of the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology earlier this month, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology's Dr. Vamsi Narra shared his institution's experience with an integrated 2D/3D workstation in its body MR service.

By bringing together 2D and real-time 3D on the same workstation, MIR was able to realize a number of benefits including workflow gains and improved service to clinicians, Narra reported.
