Advanced visualization software provider Vital Images debuted the latest release of its Vitrea advanced visualization software, version 3.8, at the 2006 American College of Cardiology (ACC) conference in Atlanta this week.
Vitrea 3.8 features enhancements to Vital Images' cardiac visualization product, VitalCardia, according to the Minneapolis-based firm. These include applications for viewing 2D, 3D, and 4D cardiac images of the heart, such as for coronary vessel analysis, cardiac functional analysis, calcium scoring, and peripheral vessel analysis, Vital Images said.
Segmentation feature enhancements include the capability to automatically extract the cardiac anatomy from the chest, enabling physicians to obtain a view of the heart with 3D and 4D renderings. Also included is the capability to probe and segment the entire coronary vessel tree, and view and automatically quantify the vessel cross section from multiple orientations, the company said.
Vital Images also showcased new features in its VitalConnect Web-based visualization and distribution system during the ACC. These included improved speed and image quality, and features enhancing its integration with Vitrea, according to the firm.
