Dear Advanced Visualization Insider,
The growing size and complexity of multidetector-row CT (MDCT) and MRI datasets is leading to a crisis in radiology workflow, if we're not there already, according to Dr. Eliot Siegel, chief of imaging at the VA Maryland Healthcare System in Baltimore.
In this environment, effective and efficient workflow strategies are essential. In a talk at the PACS 2007 conference, held recently in San Antonio by the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, Siegel discussed three 3D processing workflow models, and their advantages and disadvantages.
He also shared his predictions for the future, including the increased utilization of server-side 3D rendering and the convergence of traditional PACS and advanced 3D workstations.
Siegel's talk is the subject of this month's Insider Exclusive article, which you can access before it is published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members. To learn more about workflow requirements for 3D datasets and what lies ahead for advanced visualization workflow, click here.
