Evena debuts 'smart glasses' at RSNA 2013

Evena Medical is debuting its Eyes-On glasses at RSNA 2013 in Chicago.

Eyes-On glasses are a point-of-care wearable unit that enables nurses at the bedside to see "through" a patient's skin to the vasculature beneath, according to the company.

The glasses incorporate multispectral 3D imaging and wireless connectivity. They are a vein detection device that delivers anatomically accurate, real-time imaging in a wearable, easy-to-use, and hands- and cart-free system, according to Evena.

The Eyes-On system uses the Epson Moverio "smart glasses" platform and its "look-through" capabilities. They include digital storage for verification and documentation of vein patency throughout a patient's stay in the hospital, and telemedicine capability to share images remotely. The system also interfaces with hospital electronic medical records (EMR) systems for seamless documentation, Evena said.
