3D printing technology firm Stratasys is building a collaborative 3D printing hospital network for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The new network represents a big step forward in the approach to patient treatment, Stratasys said. The technology enables the production of 3D models of a patient's anatomy for diagnosis and treatment, and it can also be used to create personalized healthcare for veterans such as prostheses and assistive technologies.

Image courtesy of Business Wire.Under the contract with the VA's Center for Innovation, Stratasys will equip five VA hospitals in the U.S. with 3D printers, materials, and training to encourage the development of custom orthotics, prostheses, and anatomical models for personalized healthcare. The equipment will be integrated across hospitals, generating a network for knowledge and skill sharing across the sites.
