The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Israeli 3D holographic display developer RealView Imaging's Holoscope-i medical holographic system.
Holoscope-i creates spatially accurate, 3D interactive medical holograms from CT and 3D ultrasound scan data, according to the vendor. The system is suspended above the physician rather than incorporated into an augmented or virtual reality headset or a stereoscopic screen, and it is based on RealView's Digital Light Shaping volumetric holography technology, the company said.
