New software, display introductions for Barco in Europe

VIENNA - Image display and advanced visualization software developer Barco made the European introduction of two new medical displays and 3D imaging applications at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) this weekend.

The Kortrijk, Belgium-based Barco and its medical imaging application subsidiary, Voxar, showcased the firm's Coronis Color 3MP LCD display to ECR attendees. The 3-megapixel (MP) color medical display features a calibrated brightness of 500 candelas per meter squared, ambient light compensation with automatic and manual configuration capabilities, and uniform luminance technology to automatically correct luminance disparities.

Also on exhibit was the firm's Nio Fusion 4MP, a large-screen color LCD for departments requiring a larger viewing display such as an operating room. The 30-inch (76.2-cm) screen surface is actually two seamlessly fused 2MP portrait displays that provide a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution in a wide-screen format.

Barco said that both display products will be shipping worldwide in the second quarter of this year.

On the software application side, Barco made the European debut of its CardiaMetrix clinical application suite for radiologists and cardiologists. The software provides structural and functional analysis capabilities for contrast-enhanced CT angiography (CTA) studies.

CardiaMetrix is a clinical application module within the Voxar 3D application and incorporates coronary vessel analysis, calcium scoring, 4D cardiac analysis, and cardiac (left ventricular) functional analysis. It is also capable of rendering 2D, 3D, and 4D heart visualizations and quantitative analysis, including vessels, of cardiac anatomy.

The developer also demonstrated the new Voxar 3D Enterprise, which provides enterprise-wide PACS-integrated access to the Voxar 3D application. The application package utilizes server-based technology and ATI Technologies graphics processing units to deliver Voxar 3D capabilities in a distributed client-server environment.

The CardiaMetrix clinical application suite and Voxar 3D Enterprise are available now worldwide, Barco said.
