Fuji adds to Synapse, DryPix

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for Obliquus, an integrated 3D software package for its Synapse PACS network.

Obliquus is a software option for Synapse version 3.1.1 users and higher, and provides diagnostic maximum intensity projection (MIP) and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) functionality, according to the Stamford, CT-based firm. Obliquus is a direct component of Synapse, so users can utilize it anywhere on the network that Synapse is available, and within the Synapse application, Fuji said.

In other Fuji news, the firm has introduced an offsite medical archiving service. The managed PACS offering provides secure, offsite storage of radiology data with 24/7 access and disaster recovery capabilities, Fuji said. It employs RAID storage technology.

In dry imager developments, Fuji has added a software upgrade for its DryPix 5000 printer. The upgrade allows DryPix 5000 to provide throughput up to 240 films per hour, while retaining use of 110-volt power, according to the firm.

Access to the first film is available in 60 seconds, Fuji said. Newly upgraded units as well as software upgrades will be available in August.
