SonoCine has released new 3D multiplanar reconstruction software for use with its automated whole-breast ultrasound (AWBUS) system.
The software augments SonoCine's existing high-resolution transverse imaging technology, adding coronal and sagittal views. Coronal views can be used to visualize lesions after they have been detected and differentiate lesions from artifacts.
The views are particularly good for demonstrating spiculation and architectural distortion in malignant masses, according to breast ultrasound expert Dr. Thomas Stavros.
SonoCine users can employ the 3D software to apply whole-breast multiplanar reconstruction to investigate suspicious areas found on the AWBUS system. The 3D view shows the area from coronal, transverse, and sagittal planes.
