Cardiac MRI artificial intelligence (AI) software developer HeartVista has completed an $8.7 million Series A financing round.

The financing round was led by Khosla Ventures, Jeff Rothschild, Leslie Ventures, Open Field Capital, and additional investors, according to HeartVista. The firm said it has now raised a total of $16.4 million, including several grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

HeartVista said it would use the funds to develop AI-guided musculoskeletal and neural packages and expand its worldwide sales, marketing, and regulatory operations. In addition, it plans to deepen its strategic partnerships with cardiology centers and enhance its One-Click cardiac package.

The funding will also enable HeartVista to offer its software for free during the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. What's more, the company said it will provide free remote cardiac scanning services to providers who don't have the necessary staff to run their MRI scanners.
