HFES accepted into federal AI consortium

Artificial Intelligence Ai 400

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) has joined the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) AI Safety Institute Consortium.

The society highlighted that this will make way for developing a new measurement science to promote trustworthy and responsible use of AI systems.

The consortium aims to address challenges outlined by NIST in 2023 as well as a 2023 executive order on safe, secure, and trustworthy AI. HFES said the institute's work will allow for the development and deployment of safe and trustworthy AI systems through the AI Risk Management Framework.
