Canadian radiology informatics developer RamSoft unveiled its new PowerCache technology at this week's RSNA meeting in Chicago. Ideal for practices where more than one workstation is used to view images, PowerCache is designed to change the way radiology networks handle images by reducing expensive network bandwidth usage, according to the Toronto-based company.
Image datasets are downloaded only once with PowerCache, even if changes are made after acquisition. Once PowerCache is installed at a referring physician practice, it can eliminate the image download time for physicians, according to RamSoft. Savings also can be achieved by switching from a T1 line to a DSL or cable connection, the company said.
