Cerner nets record Q1

Healthcare information systems provider Cerner of Kansas City, MO, reported new business bookings revenue in the 2006 fiscal first quarter of $262 million, a 12% gain over the first quarter of 2005, and an all-time high level for bookings in the first quarter.

For the period (end-April 1), first-quarter 2006 revenues increased 22% to $321.2 million, compared with $262.5 million in the same quarter in fiscal 2005. For the period, 2006 net earnings were $20.1 million, a strong showing compared with net earnings of $12.5 million in the same period last year.

The firm said its guidance for the second quarter is that it expects revenue to be approximately $320 million to $330 million and new business bookings to be between $305 million and $320 million, which reflect double-digit growth over the record bookings reported in the second quarter of 2005.
