AuntMinnie.com Healthcare IT Insider

Dear Healthcare IT Insider,

Dr. David Brailer, the former U.S. National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, brought a wealth of practical experience to his appointment as the first holder of this office.

Brailer has been a senior fellow at the Health Technology Center in San Francisco, chairman and chief executive officer of care-management service provider CareSciences, and was instrumental in the design and development of the Santa Barbara, CA, community health information exchange. Although he retired from his position with the Department of Health and Human Services earlier this year, Brailer has remained active promoting healthcare IT integration throughout North America.

In a Healthcare IT Insider exclusive, Brailer recently sat down for an interview with AuntMinnie.com editor in chief Brian Casey. The two discussed a variety of topics, including the current state of healthcare IT in the U.S. and what the U.S. can learn from healthcare IT projects in other countries.

In another first for AuntMinnie.com, we're presenting the interview as an AudioCast for our members. You can listen to the interview in its entirety on the Web, download it for later replay on an MP3-compatible device, or click on a topic of interest to hear just that portion of the interview, which can be found by clicking here. As a Healthcare IT Insider subscriber, you have access to this story before it's published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members at the end of the week.

If enjoy our AudioCast format and would like to hear more such interviews, please let me know. Also, if you have a comment or story to share about any aspects of healthcare IT, please get in touch with me at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you.
