Emdeon posts strong Q2

Emdeon of Elmwood Park, NJ, reported double-digit gains in revenue and net income for its fiscal 2006 second quarter (end-June 30).

The firm said that revenue for the second quarter was $354.9 million, a 10% uptick compared with $322.6 million booked in the same period a year ago.

Net income for the second quarter was $23.2 million, a robust 43.4% increase compared with net income of $16.2 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2005, Emdeon said.

The company's Emdeon Practice Services segment revenue was $77.3 million for the second quarter, a slight decline from last year's second-quarter revenue of $78.6 million. In addition, the vendor reported that operating margins for the business unit increased from 10.4% in the prior-year period to 15.7%, which it said were the result of changes in revenue mix and improvements in its delivery and service infrastructure.
