Practice management and electronic health record (EHR) system developer SuccessEHS of Birmingham, AL, has released its Medicare Revision Tool, which helps identify underpaid Medicare claims.
In early 2010, incorrect fee schedules were released for use by Medicare fiscal intermediaries, resulting in underpayments for many claims processed between January 1 and May 31, 2010, according to the company. Although individual claim underpayments were not large, the aggregate of errors multiplied by hundreds or thousands of claims adds up to significant money, SuccessEHS said.
Finding and resubmitting claims that were not paid accurately can be very time-consuming if done manually. The new tool estimates total underpayment for a clinic and identifies claims to resubmit to Medicare.
