Radiology decision-support firm Medicalis promoted several new partnerships, as well as a new reporting environment, at last week's RSNA 2012 meeting in Chicago.
On the partnership side, the company signed an agreement with Applied Pathways to access that company's content-authoring software. The deal will allow Medicalis customers using the company's Content Author software to establish customized quality-of-care standards for imaging across their entire enterprise.
Healthcare providers will be able to use Content Author to encode their own local standards of care to compliment guidelines available from national medical societies, according to the company. Applied Pathways' technology is cloud-based and open-architecture.
In the second deal, Medicalis has inked an agreement with National Decision Support Company (NDSC) under which Medicalis customers will be able to access ACR Select, the digitally consumable version of the American College of Radiology's (ACR) Appropriateness Criteria for ordering appropriate tests. Medicalis customers will be able to access ACR Select from their local workstations.
ACR Select includes imaging topics that have been developed by expert panels of physicians from different medical specialties under the guidance of the ACR. NDSC is the exclusive licensing agent of the Appropriateness Criteria and provides technical delivery and support of the guidelines through the ACR Select platform.
Finally, Medicalis used RSNA 2012 to introduce its Actionable Reporting integrated authoring-environment software. The software is designed to work with all commercially available reporting systems. It gives radiologists information via a single-click touchscreen or iPad, while offering referring physicians streamlined radiology reports for rapid access.
The software is designed to offer a more consumable report to referring physicians, with key elements such as findings, recommendations, and critical alerts. This helps to ensure a high standard of quality for both radiologists and primary care physicians, according to the company.
