The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has acquired the conference component of Health 2.0 in a move to expand HIMSS' global educational offerings.
While HIMSS has traditionally focused on mainstream technologies deployed by hospitals, networks, and physician groups, the acquisition will allow the organization to have a greater influence on healthcare IT, said HIMSS CEO H. Stephen Lieber in a statement.
Dr. Indu Subaiya, CEO of Health 2.0, will join HIMSS as executive vice president, while co-chairman Matthew Holt will serve as a consultant. Health 2.0 will be a separate business unit within HIMSS, Lieber said.
