Fujitsu Computer Products of America will spotlight a new format of write-once-read-many (WORM) magneto-optical (MO) disks at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Dallas next week.
The format uses an application from Software Architects, called Disk Drive TuneUp! for Microsoft Windows, which allows files to be written permanently to an MO disk, preventing accidental deletion or alteration of medical records. The WORM software works with the complete line of Fujitsu MO drives, including its DynaMO 2300U2, a 2.3-GB removable USB storage drive, according to the San Jose, CA-based vendor.
