Image management firm RealTimeImage of San Bruno, CA, has signed a deal to install its iPACS Prism PACS software at a hospital in Idaho.
iPACS Prism will be installed at Shoshone Medical Center, a 25-bed community hospital that serves the state's Silver Valley. RTI said its software was a good fit for the facility because its remote location prevents many radiologists from obtaining high-speed Internet access, forcing image transmission over dial-up lines.
RTI's software uses an image-streaming algorithm to transmit images in increasing layers of resolution, which the company says makes it appropriate for low-bandwidth connections.
