Agfa HealthCare is discussing its new IT portfolio strategy at this week's European Congress of Radiology meeting in Vienna. The vendor has selected one platform to serve as the foundation for all of its future healthcare software applications.
The platform will combine recent acquisition GWI's ORBIS enterprise-wide IT platform and healthcare applications suite with Agfa's Impax PACS network, according to the Mortsel, Belgium-based firm.
In new ECR product developments, Agfa is introducing its IPlan Web-based scheduling module. IPlan is designed to provide occasional hospital users and referring physicians a customized capability to make and view appointments. The software's user interface is configurable on a customer-by-customer basis, Agfa said.
Agfa is also unveiling its Solutions Monitoring and Management Service (SMMS), a 24/7 remote monitoring and reporting package. Aiming to reduce the administrative effort required to manage PACS and information systems, SMMS manages and monitors hardware and software through customized agents running throughout an enterprise, Agfa said.
In the event of a problem, the system generates automatic alerts at both Agfa's global support center and at the customer site, providing a system map showing the location of the problem.
