Archiving technology developer StorageTek of Louisville, CO, has launched a new archiving product based on redundant array of independent disk (RAID) technology that features data transfer rates up to 4 gigabits per second (Gb/s). StorageTek's previous product line is based on 2 Gb/s data transfer rates.

The StorageTek FLX380 archive uses fibre-channel connectivity and houses dual-active RAID controllers, eight 4 Gb/s host connections, and support for up to 224 fibre-channel or SATA disk drives. It also includes a SilkWorm 4100 switch from Brocade of San Jose, CA, according to StorageTek.
