RIS/PACS software developer Guardian Technologies International has added a new image viewer to its FlowPoint product suite thanks to a relationship signed with U.K. imaging firm Pukka-J. Guardian is also developing computer-aided detection (CAD) software, the firm announced at this month's Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) meeting.
Pukka-J's DICOM Explorer viewer is designed to enable physicians outside the radiology department to gain Web-based access to images, according to Guardian. The viewer includes support for orthopedic templates, 3D image review, and radiation therapy treatment planning.
Guardian's work-in-progress FlowPoint CAD software is based on work the company's security services business unit has done on developing software for detecting explosives in airline baggage. Guardian hopes to integrate CAD as a value-added option for its RIS/PACS software.
Guardian also demonstrated support for additional languages in FlowPoint, and has been ramping up its sales activities in China, Latin America, and Europe, the company said.
