Bycast will present version 5.2 of its StorageGrid software.
As part of version 5.2, Bycast said it increased the resiliency of the file-system interface (NFS and CIFS) to the grid. In addition, the new release features GatewayNode replication groups, according to the Vancouver-based firm.
Bycast's GatewayNode concept provides the file-system interface, through which applications store and retrieve data from StorageGrid. The addition of GatewayNode replication groups increases the availability of StorageGrid in the event of a primary GatewayNode failure, Bycast said.
GatewayNode replication groups can support multiple secondary GatewayNodes, allowing flexibility in system configuration, Bycast said. The groups perform near real-time replication to update the indexes of other GatewayNodes forming the replication group, a capability that minimizes the potential of data loss in the event of a primary GatewayNode failure, according to the firm.
Secondary GatewayNodes are always available in read mode, and they can also support read and write in the event of a primary GatewayNode failure, Bycast said.
