Agfa unveils new contracts and installations

Agfa HealthCare used the backdrop of RSNA 2005 to announce several new contracts and installations.

The Cork University Hospital in Cork, Ireland, will install Agfa's new Impax Enterprise IT technology next year. The 615-bed facility plans to integrate the $1.6 million system with its existing HIS.

The U.S. Army's Ireland Army Community Hospital at Fort Knox in Kentucky and other clinics at the base, along with two other Army medical sites in Indiana and Wisconsin, have integrated Agfa's Impax PACS into its existing systems.

Niagra Health System in Ontario, Canada, has become the first customer in Canada to implement Agfa's new Impax 6.0 integrated PACS and voice recognition technology. Niagra will use Agfa's Impax 6.0 for the more than 300,000 exams and reports generated annually among the system's seven acute-care hospitals.

Maaslandziekenhuis Sittard in the Netherlands has committed to integrating Agfa's RIS and Impax PACS with its current HIS. The $4 million order includes the installation of a hospital-wide RIS/PACS for image and information management.

In other Agfa news, the Mortsel, Belgium-based company will be listed on the U.S. Department of Defense's internal online electronic catalog (ECAT), allowing military hospitals to purchase Agfa products and services. Agfa noted that it will compete for approximately $15 million in military hospital spending.
