Healthcare informatics firm IDX Systems of Burlington, VT, has unveiled a new product, Imagecast PACS for Orthopedics, at the 2005 RSNA show in Chicago.
Orthopedic surgeons can plan procedures in advance by measuring patient images with digital tools and overlaying electronic templates from various implant vendors. Imagecast PACS for Orthopedics includes a library of these templates and fixation elements for total hip, total knee, shoulder, and elbow replacements, as well as tools for evaluating leg length for total hip replacements and patients with scoliosis.
IDX Systems designed Imagecast PACS for Orthopedics to help orthopedic practices and hospitals transition from film to all-digital environments, according to the company, and has based it on an open standards platform for both small and larger orthopedic practices. Imagecast PACS for Orthopedics has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration.
