Telemedicine and teleradiology developer Image Information Systems (IIS) has released the DICOMReader image viewer.
The application is a tool to view images on CD-ROMs from PACS or viewing stations, according to the London-based firm. The product was developed in cooperation with the radiological institutes of the German universities of Rostock and Luebeck, the company said.
DICOMReader is a DICOM 3.0-compliant software application that acts as a DICOM service class user, runs on all Microsoft Windows platforms, and converts almost all medical image CD-ROMs, IIS said.
The tool automatically scans any CD-ROM or DVD inserted into a computer for DICOM images. The images are then analyzed, if necessary converted, and afterwards transmitted via the DICOM Store protocol.
