German PACS vendor Medavis will unveil new features of its DICOM Importer Pro software designed to enable import of DICOM standard images into PACS archives worldwide.
Challenges that the new functions are designed to address involve the exchange of images and other patient data between medical institutions via patient CDs from different PACS networks, according to the Karlsruhe, Germany-based firm. One risk occurs when the identification system in the originating PACS is incompatible with clinic software where the patient has come for care, making imported images difficult to find or even assigned to another patient in error.
New capabilities for the Importer Pro include a DICOM Query function, where patient and study data are allocated via a direct query to the PACS archive, and a multiarchive feature that is designed to provide a system-independent solution for DICOM data import.
