Software developer Integrated Document Solutions (IDS) has debuted its new HTML5-based AbbaDox Image Viewer and upgraded its DICOM Virtual Appliance.
Replacing the vendor's previous DICOM image viewing module, the new zero-footprint AbbaDox Image Viewer offers instant image loading and is compatible with all modern Web browsers, according to IDS. In addition, users can access Image Viewer via native apps on the iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile devices.
IDS said it has also enhanced its DICOM Virtual Appliance, adding increased processing, routing, and archiving capabilities. DICOM Virtual Appliance can act as a full PACS for imaging centers, providing online storage with storage formats such as local RAID arrays, external hard drives, or nearline storage using network or cloud storage services, IDS said. Offline services such as tape backup are also supported.
What's more, the new DICOM Virtual Appliance can transcode incoming DICOM images on the fly to store images in the lossless JPEG 2000 file format, according to the vendor. Users can also download images to the local workstation as a DICOM image or a study with the full series of images, IDS said.
Routing improvements include bidirectional image transfer for sharing images across locations, groups, or individual users, IDS said. The new design can also query multiple, remote PACS and route studies based on logic to optimize workflow. In addition, images on a CD can be uploaded using the firm's CD Uploader application and then routed to an archive or the main PACS with additional routing instructions based on modality or other criteria, according to the company.
