The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published a white paper that discusses the potential issues and risks associated with using nonvalidated, third-party image displays for x-ray equipment.
There are several considerations that healthcare facilities should take into account when replacing an original display with a nonvalidated one, according to NEMA. The validation of medical monitors for x-ray equipment is critical for ensuring their safe and effective operation, especially during interventional procedures, noted Patrick Hope, executive director of the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA).
The paper, NEMA/MITA XE P1-2018, can be downloaded for free at the NEMA website.
