The music of Austria’s greatest composers -- Mozart, Strauss, and Brahms -- will open ECR 2001 during a concert March 2 at the Austria Center in Vienna. The overture of The Marriage of Figaro, the Spring Voices Waltz, and the Emperor Waltz, will give attendees the opportunity to "Meet Europe," which happens to be the theme for this year’s meeting.
"Our motto is 'Meet Europe' since the ECR has become the official annual meeting place for radiologists from all of Europe and the rest of the world to enjoy science, education, technical innovations, and cultural events," said Dr. Holger Pettersson in his president’s address.
Many events are unique to the ECR, including Eurorad, the educational electronic peer-reviewed publication of the European Association of Radiology, and the Golden Mile. This year’s theme is "Advanced Interactive Visualization," a celebration of the latest advances in 3-D display, virtual endoscopy, and surgical simulations.
Topics at 2001 EuroPACS include the history of PACS in Europe, and installing PACS in a university setting. Information technology experts will be on hand from Saturday through Tuesday to discuss implementation issues.
Here are a few of the scientific sessions and other events AuntMinnie.com will be covering in five days of live reports from ECR 2001.
