Del shows Q2 uptick

Del Medical Systems Group posted fiscal 2005 second-quarter sales of $22.9 million, a slight downturn compared with the $23.8 million in sales posted for the same period last year.

The Medical Systems Group's Villa Sistemi Medicali subsidiary experienced lower sales during the period because the increased strength of the euro resulted in less attractive pricing for its products in noneuro-denominated markets, according to parent company Del Global Technologies. The vendor said the decrease was offset by increased shipments of digital units in the U.S.

For the quarter (end-January 29), operating income at the Valhalla, NY-based group increased 45% to $2.9 million from $2 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2004. The firm did not break out net income figures for the medical systems group.

In related news, Del said that while no definitive purchase agreement for the sale of the Medical Systems Group has yet been executed, Del continues to negotiate with interested parties.
