Dear Business & Industry Insider,
Some imaging industry observers have drawn parallels between the emerging 3D business segment and the teleradiology market when it was in its infancy. A new start-up based in Kentucky hopes to take a business model that's worked in teleradiology -- providing outsourced services -- and adapt it to the 3D market.
The company, 3DR of Louisville, believes it can set up a viable business model by providing 3D volumetric image processing services to imaging centers and hospitals. Many of these facilities, the logic goes, would rather use an outsourced service to get started in 3D image processing than go through the expense of setting up their own 3D lab.
Specially trained technologists at 3DR's lab would take 2D data submitted from client facilities, process it according to consistent protocols, and send 3D-rendered images back to clients via a fast Internet connection. The imaging facilities would then be able to interpret the images themselves, send them to referring physicians, or show them to patients.
The company is starting to sign up its first clients, and is planning to raise its public profile through marketing and education efforts in the months to come. Learn all about 3DR by clicking here.
