Analogic revenues edge up in 2005

Analogic reported fiscal 2005 revenues of $364.6 million, up 2.5% compared with the $355.6 million booked during fiscal 2004. For the year (end-July 31), the Peabody, MA-based vendor had net income of $28.9 million, compared with net income of $8.4 million a year ago.

In its fourth quarter, Analogic recorded revenues of $102 million, down slightly from the $102.2 million turned in a year ago. The vendor had net income of $4.3 million, compared with net income of $3.9 million last year.

In fiscal 2005 highlights, Analogic president and CEO John Wood said that the firm's medical subsystems business for OEMs continued to grow substantially. Analogic shipped increasing numbers of data acquisition systems (DAS) for CT scanners and a new generation of radiofrequency (RF) amplifiers for MRI systems, Wood said.

The firm's CT system business also began a resurgence in fiscal 2005, with an increase in shipments, Wood said. Ultrasound system shipments were also up for the year.

On the down side, digital radiography (DR) revenues did not meet expectations, as DR shipments by its Anexa subsidiary were below projections. Analogic attributed this to delays in obtaining a key subsystem for its flagship SyneRad Omni DR system, which first began shipping this month.
