Dear Business & Industry Insider,

The field of nuclear cardiology is red hot, particularly as cardiologists purchase nuclear medicine cameras to install in their offices. Still, some 90% of cardiologists still have not purchased a system for in-office imaging.

The business opportunity looks sizeable to the folks at CardiArc, a Lubbock, TX, company that is the subject of this edition's Insider Exclusive. CardiArc has developed a dedicated cardiac gamma camera that has a number of features that could make it attractive to cardiology practices.

One feature is the system's detector array -- it's based on an arc-shaped design in which neither the patient nor the detector array rotates. Instead, elements inside the detector array move to create the effect of an ultralong-bore collimator, according to the company.

Another difference is the system's small size, which makes it suitable for siting in offices as small as 6 x 7 ft, according to the company. The CardiArc system also has image quality and exam throughput advantages, company executives believe.

CardiArc is readying the camera for a market launch later this year or in early 2007, but you can learn all about the system now by clicking here.
