Siemens Healthcare has been awarded a contract worth $125 million U.S. from Canadian hospital William Osler Health System, based in Ontario.
Over the life of the 15-year contract, Siemens will provide Osler's three hospital sites with a suite of management services for the majority of its medical imaging equipment. The deal is one of the company's largest contracts in North America to date and the first of this type in Canada, Siemens said.
The contract includes the procurement, replacement, and maintenance of some 190 diagnostic imaging items for radiology and cardiology, including ultrasound, x-ray, CT, and MRI systems. Siemens will also offer financing, professional services, room renovations, and training for clinical users, as well as onsite technical support.
Osler is one of Canada's largest community hospitals, serving a population of more than 1.3 million people with two sites, Etobicoke General Hospital and Brampton Civic Hospital. A third site -- Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness -- is currently under construction, with completion slated for 2016.
